SACRAMENTO – “The California NAACP is astounded at the incredibly light sentence given to former BART officer, Johannes Mehserle, the murderer of a young Black man, Oscar Grant. This man had no gun enhancement penalty leveraged against his sentence and thus he received a mere 2-year sentence and given credit for time served, leaving him less than a year in prison – this for taking the life of a young man.
